3 Suspects killed in Hot Pursuit Operation in Labangan


On May 12, 2018 at about 3:30 PM, shooting incident, particularly in front of Jonathan Salang Magdadaro’s residence located at Purok 2, Barangay Noburan, Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur.

The victim identified as Carlos Arapoc Matas, 61 years old, male, married, and resident of Purok Fatima, Barangay Dao, Pagadian City, more or less seven (7) unidentified gunmen shot several times using M16 rifle, caliber 45 pistols, and caliber 9mm.

As a result, victim sustained several gunshot wounds in the different parts of his body that resulted to his instantaneous death, while suspects immediately fled the scene after the incident.

Evidence recovered from the crime scene are fifteen (15) cartridge case of 5.56 mm, two (2) cartridge case of caliber .45 pistol, one (1) undetermined deformed slug, one (1) cartridge case of caliber 9mm and one (1) live ammunition of caliber 9mm. 

Joint PNP personnel of Zamboanga Del Sur PPO together with the Provincial Intelligence Branch of Zambo Sur PPO, Provincial Mobile Force Company and Labangan MPS and elements of 53rd IB conducted at about 5:00 PM of same date, hot pursuit operation, Philippine Army responded at Barangay Dipaya, Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur.

The operation resulted to more or less six (6) hours of firefight which led to the death/neutralization of three (3) suspects identified as:
-Butchoy Abdul (KIA) legal age, and resident of Tukuran, Zamboanga del Sur, Recovered from his possession one (1) unit caliber 9mm with one magazine of same caliber;
-Bakar Inok (KIA) legal age, and resident of Barangay Lower sang-an, Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur (No firearm recovered) and
-Salik Tabina (KIA), legal age, and resident of Barangay Bulanit, Labangan Zamboanga del Sur, Recovered from his possession one  unit KG9 with two magazine of same caliber.

One person wounded identified as Arnaiz Alam Kabaro a.k.a. “kabeb" Recovered from his possession one unit M4 without Magazine, legal age, and resident of Barangay Lower Sang-an, Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur who is now temporarily confined at Zamboanga del Sur Medical Center.

While on the side of the PNP/AFP operating troops, PSI Aiko R Tesoro, Deputy Chief, Provincial Intelligence Branch was wounded on his right arm and was rushed to HofileƱa hospital of this city and subsequently brought to Ozamis City hospital for further treatment.

Subject firearms are now under the custody of Labangan MPS for proper disposition.  PNP personnel from Provincial Crime Laboratory Office (PCLO) conducted crime scene processing. Investigator is PO2 Welito C Nuena, with cellphone number 0910-7571-250.

Shooting incident transpired at Barangay Noburan, Labangan Zamboanga Del Sur At about 3:30 PM of May 12, 2018 wherein victim was identified as Carlos Arapoc Matas, legal age and a resident of Purok Mahayahay, Dao, Pagadian City. 

Four (4) unidentified suspects using cal. 45 pistol and cal. 5.56 M16 rifles base on the fired cartridge cage recovered from the crime scene shot him to death.

Suspects fled onboard a single motorcycle, towards the directions of Barangay Langapud, Labangan Zamboanga Del Sur wherein PIB personnel of ZSPPO and 53rd IB, Phil Army immediately conducted a hot pursuit operation.

Upon arrival at Barangay Langapud, Labangan Zamboanga Del Sur a fire fight ensued and as a result thereof, Two (2) unidentified suspects were neutralized and wounding PSINSP Aiko R Tesoro, Deputy, PIB, ZSPPO.

Broadcaster killed in Labangan Shooting Incident


LABANGAN, Zamboanga del Sur (May 12, 2018) – A broadcaster was killed in a shooting incident transpired at Barangay Noburan, Labangan, Zamboanga Del Sur at about 03:30 PM of May 12, 2018.

Upon receipt a report PNP personnel of Labangan MPS proceeded to the place of incident to verify the veracity of the report and to conduct initial investigation.

Investigation conducted at about 4:30 in the afternoon of the same date the responding team found the dead body of victim identified as Carlos Arapoc Matas, legal age, resident of Purok Mahayahay, Dao, Pagadian City. Four (4) unidentified suspects using cal. 45 pistol and 5.56 m16 rifles base on the fired cartridge cage recovered from the crime scene shot him to death.  

Suspects fled towards the directions of Barangay Langapud, Labangan Zamboanga Del Sur with the use of Single MC. Motive of incident still undetermined. (By Jong Cadion)

1 wounded, 3 survived in Labangan ZamboSur Shot-out


PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur (May 9, 2018) – One wounded while three others were survived in ambushed transpired at Barangay Langapod in the municipality of Labangan of this province Tuesday at 4:10pm, Police Official said.

Labanga Municipal Police Station Chief of Police PSINSP Joel M. Galleriana disclosed that a certain Mohamidin Dimatinggal Alam, 24 years old, single, and resident of Purok Dimatinggal, Lower Sang-an of the said municipality. He reported to this Police Station and put into record that the group of Mr. Carlos A. Matas at said place ambushed him. The victim sustained gunshot wound on his left armpit that he decided to abandon his single motorcycle (Racal) and single motorcycle DT owned by his companion Amerudin Alamand.

In the related incident, initial investigation conducted also disclosed as per testimony of Carlos A. Matas, Samuel C. Patajo and Sannyboy E. Tepura that they were allegedly waylaid by single motorcycles riding individuals at Purok Tundan, Langapod, in the said town and fired shots unto their vehicles (Army Jeep) fortunately none of them were harmed. The suspects fled to different direction after the incident.

Responding police operatives recovered from the crime scene Six cartridge cases of caliber .45 pistol, one cartridge case of nine 9mm and Two slugs of undetermined caliber of firearm while the army jeep had seven bullet holes most of which came from behind and subject for bullet trajectory examination.

Police Officer brought the wounded person to the hospital for medical examination.

PSINSP Galleriana said that both parties were accusing against each other and decided to file appropriate charges before the court.  

Labangan MPS still conducting a follow-up investigation to gather more evidence. The motives believe to be political in relation to the forthcoming election, the Chief of Police said. Investigator is PO2 Welito C. Nuena. (By JONG D. CADION)
